Side Effects Of Coconut Oil: Whether coconut is eaten or applied, it is beneficial for the body in both ways. People drink coconut water to keep themselves fit. Apart from this, they use its oil to keep their skin soft. It is rich in moisturizing properties. Apart from this, saturated fats and many amino acids are found in abundance in it. Due to this property of coconut oil, coconut oil is used a lot in skin products. But is coconut oil really good for your skin? Let’s know from the experts…
Coconut oil is very important for the skin due to its antibacterial and antifungal properties. Several fatty acids present in coconut oil, such as lauric acid and capric acid, are very effective in keeping our skin healthy. Coconut oil has disease-preventing properties. This means that it kills harmful bacteria that grow on our skin. Apart from this, coconut oil makes our skin clean and shiny by eliminating skin infections like acne, folliculitis, cellulitis, fungus and bacteria with the help of lauric acid and capric acid present in coconut oil.
Dr Amit Kumar, founder of Shatayu Ayurveda and Panchkarma Center in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, told news agency IANS about coconut oil that “Coconut oil is very heavy. Due to which, many times due to its excessive use in beauty products, wrinkles and lines appear on the face. Therefore, excessive use of coconut oil should be avoided on the body, especially on the face. Also, many times the use of coconut oil also causes allergies on our skin. The trans fat present in coconut oil forms a layer of barrier on the face, due to which the moisture almost stops entering our skin. Our skin starts becoming dry from inside. Therefore, it is important that we identify our skin type and limit the use of coconut oil.
Still, if coconut product is to be applied, then another method can be adopted. You can use it as a face pack. You have to take special care that if your skin is oily, then do not leave it on overnight. Dr. Amit also considers the use of coconut oil as a major reason for pimples on the face. It closes the skin pores of our skin. Due to which pimples start appearing on our face. People with sensitive and oily skin should stay away from coconut oil. (With inputs from IANS)
