Love is an experience that is not easy to tie in words. But when this feeling is seen in the light of the thoughts of spiritual guru like Osho, it makes sense even more deeply. Osho believed that love is not just a feeling, but the pure state of existence. It is born when the mind is calm, when the person gets involved with himself, and when he accepts another without any expectation or selfishness. Osho says that when a person has a true love, he feels ‘being’ – not ‘getting’ or ‘to make’. This love does not lead to any goal, but it itself becomes a goal. In true love, a person comes out of his limits. He only loves someone’s existence by going beyond body, form, name, society or relationships.
How does the mind change in a state of love?
According to Osho, when someone has true love, the duality in the mind ends. Neither jealousy remains, nor selfishness. The person becomes beyond ‘self’. He neither wants to catch something, nor is there a fear of losing. His love becomes a kind of meditation – where there is no noise, nor demand. Only silence and acceptance. Osho says that “love blooms like a flower, which can neither be opened, nor can be fed quickly with any pressure. This happens only when you are ready from within.”
What happens when there is love, what happens?
When someone has true love, it changes. He becomes kind to others, his mind easily bends towards service and cooperation. In his speech, there is sweetness instead of hardness. He is unhappy in the sorrow of the other and is happy in happiness – without any expectation. This change is not external, but inner. Osho calls it “transland” – that is to cross its boundaries. He says that true love teaches you to fly, but not with bondage, but with freedom. If love becomes a bond, it is slavery; But if he gives freedom, then it is meditation.
Can true love be only for a person?
Osho’s approach does not limit true love to any one person. He says that true love can be not towards any one person, but towards the entire creation. When you have the same feelings towards a person, birds, sky, moon, sun – that you have felt for a dear person, then that love is in its perfection. In Osho’s words – “Love is a direction, not a destination. When you start loving, everything becomes beautiful. Every thing becomes beautiful. Music becomes around you, silence starts to speak and there is also a lot of happiness.”
Relationship of true love and enlightenment
Osho believes that true love is the first step of enlightenment. Because when you are in love, you are out of ego. And when the ego is over, then the soul is glimpse. That is why Osho says, “Where there is love, there is God. Because love is the first pulses of God.” They also clarify that there should be talk of getting up in love, not in love. It is wrong to say “Fall in Love” in English, Osho calls it “Rise in Love” – that is, to rise in love.
