The measure of success in today’s education system and social thinking is considered only a good degree and high salary job. Good marks in board examinations, graduation from prestigious college and then in a multinational company – this has become the definition of success of most youth today. But is this really true success? Is only a degree and job goal of life? If not, then what is the true meaning of success?
Social definition versus personal satisfaction
A predetermined structure has been formed in the society, in which it is believed to be successful or is working abroad. Parents also often expect their children to become doctors, engineers, IAS or CAs. In such a situation, the youth suppress their dreams and desires, because they have been told that this is the way of “success”, but the truth is that there is no fixed definition of success. Writing a book for someone can be successful, then for some opening a school in the village. If a farmer is happy to adopt new technology in his field, then an artist is giving a message to the society with his painting. Will we call them unsuccessful because they do not have a big degree or luxurious job?
Souls are the real success
Success is the true meaning of success – Souls. When a person is satisfied with his work, when he is happy to go to his work every morning, when his work brings positive changes in the society – that is the real success. The degree can be a means, but not the goal. If a person raises his family from a small shop and is mentally calm and satisfied, he is as successful as a corporate manager.
Learning from failure is also success
It is natural to fail in the way of real success. Many times the youth get disappointed as soon as they fail because they have not been taught that failure is also part of life. The great scientist Thomas Edison faced failures thousands of times before making the bulb, but he did not give up. Be it Sachin Tendulkar or A.P.J. Abdul Kalam-Everyone faced a struggle in their lives but achieved success with their self-confidence and passion.
The value of success is determined by contribution to society
True success is the one who returns something to the society too. Being limited to itself is not called success. A person who improves the lives of others, gives direction to society, inspires others – he is really successful. For example, a teacher who is teaching rural children is no less successful than a corporate CEO, because his contribution is in giving direction to generations to come.
