More than 200 patients were included in this research and after getting injection of plastic granules, most of the patients got relief from knee pain to a great extent. The results of this research are very encouraging. Experts believe that this treatment can be an option for those patients who are not getting benefit from other treatments. This new discovery has raised hopes that small pieces of plastic can prove to be very effective in relieving knee pain. These pieces enter the body and stop the production of chemicals that increase inflammation, thereby providing relief from knee pain.
According to researchers, this new treatment can reduce knee pain to a great extent and can save many people from knee transplant. However, it is not as effective for every patient. This treatment is most effective for patients with mild to moderate disease, those who are not getting benefit from painkillers and physiotherapy. Plastic injection can be effective for those who have been suffering from knee pain for a long time and are not in a condition for knee transplant.
