Every year millions of children come here to prepare for entrance exam. Along with the large number of children, the coaching business in Kota has also reached 6 thousand crore rupees and is increasing day by day. The entire economy of Kota city has now become dependent on these coaching institutes. Along with this, the coaching business in Kota, famous for Kota Stone and Chambal water, has also brought up the real estate business during the last two decades.
The journey to become the coaching hub of Kota city began when VK Bansal, an engineer by profession, left his work in JK Synthetics in Kota between 1985 and started teaching students at his home. Along with teaching mathematics, he also advised students to pass the engineering entrance exam. The number of selections of their students increased year after year, after which he established the Bansal Institute. According to media reports, till 1991, there used to be a few coaching classes in Kota. But during this time 10 students of coaching were selected in IIT. After this, 50 students were elected in IITs next year and after this the caravan started in a similar way. Although there are many coaching centers in Kota, some institutions have gained more fame.

Bansal classes are considered to be the oldest and reliable coaching center of Kota, which mainly provides coaching for IIT, JEE and NEET. Apart from this, on the basis of students, the largest coaching center here is Alan Institute, which mainly prepares IITs, JEE and NEET, Alan has to pay a fee of about 1 to 2 lakh rupees for preparation for both types of entrance examination. Career point is also a famous name in the list of IIT JEE coaching institutes in Kota. At the same time, Akash Institute is also very famous for its NEET preparation along with Kota. The resonance here, who prepares students for competitive examinations like NEET, JEE and CLAT, is also considered very important on the basis of selection in the whole country. In all these coaching institutes, students have to pay fees of up to two lakhs to about two lakhs.
Every year about 2,50,000 students come to Kota to prepare for competitive examinations in different fields. In view of the huge number of students in the city, some national level coaching has also opened its centers in Kota, these coaching institutes include NEET and JEE examinations mainly for the preparation of JEE examinations, mainly unacademy, physics, Narayana and Vedantu etc. for the preparation of JEE examinations. The fees for IITs and JEE in these coaching institutes are around 1,55,000 and the fee for NEET is about 1,35,000.
In addition to students studying in Kota, there are also arrangements at big level. 70 percent of Kota’s economy is dependent on the expenses incurred by students. There are about 10,000 hostels, more than 2,500 pg and about 1,800 mess, cafes, tiffin centers, breakfast stalls. In 3 kilometers of the coaching area, PG and room are found in less money. Where the room rent and food is done for ₹ 10000. Apart from this, there are also many budget friendly messes, in which you can eat 1 month of food for 2500 to ₹ 3000. Apart from this, tiffin can also be ordered on your room. In these messes, children are also given special food for 3 days.
Due to the arrival of students from every part of the country, every means of quota is connected by traffic, but the biggest obstacle in the development and completeness of quota is the lack of air services here. Despite having an aerodram airport here, the lack of air service in Kota eats everyone. Talking about the road, Kota is well connected to all the main highways of the country. Apart from this, Kota is also connected to every part of the Indian Railways rail route, from here you will get a regular train for Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala, Jammu, Bangalore and all the big cities of the country.

Kota city is also becoming a hub of students’ deaths, every year students come here under stress and commit suicide. The pressure on the students from coaching institutes is heavy, because it is not necessary that every student is mentally strong. The data of suicide of students in Kota has shook the administration. From six o’clock to late evening, students take steps like the class of coaching institutes, then themselves studying their own studies, one to two times a week, the expectations of the parents and the pressure of competition with the peers. The figures of the last few years are surprising. A total of 29 students committed suicide in the year 2023. At the same time, 14 students have given their lives in this year so far. Cases of students’ suicides in Kota have also made governments sleep.
Rajasthan government, quota administration and coaching institutes have also made many efforts to reduce the stress of students.
