Makar Sankranti Khichdi Recipe

The festival of Makar Sankranti is considered incomplete without Khichdi. On this day people prepare and eat Khichdi and Khichdi is also donated. Although urad dal and rice have importance on Sankranti, but people who do not like urad dal khichdi can make khichdi from different types of pulses and eat it. Today we are telling you how to make three types of delicious Khichdi. You can cook and eat whatever you like.

Urad Dal Khichdi Recipe

On Makar Sankranti, urad dal khichdi is made in most of the houses. For this, soak 1 cup rice and 1 cup urad dal. Now add desi ghee in the cooker. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds and crackle. Now add crushed ginger and garlic to ghee. After this, break whole red chillies and add them. Now mix all the things and add salt and 1 pinch of turmeric to it. Add water as per rice and add half spoon garam masala. Close the cooker and cook till 3-4 whistles. Serve khichdi by adding green coriander and desi ghee on top.

Arhar Dal Khichdi Recipe

People like Arhar Dal Khichdi very much. For this, soak pigeon pea dal and rice in water. Put pulses and rice in the cooker and put it on gas. Add salt and turmeric in it. Cook the dal and rice for 3 whistles. For tadka, chop 1 big onion, 1 big tomato, some crushed ginger garlic, 1 green chilli and green coriander. Heat ghee in a pan, add asafoetida and cumin seeds in it. Now add ginger garlic, then green chilli and onion and fry. Now add tomatoes to it and cook. Mix this tempering in khichdi. Add green coriander on top and add ghee and serve.

Millet Khichdi Recipe

On Sankranti, people also prepare millet khichdi and eat it. Millet khichdi keeps the body warm. For this, soak millet in water for 6-7 hours. After taking it out of water, rotate it once in the mixer. Put millet, moong dal, rice and salt and turmeric in the cooker and put it on gas. Put 2 cups of water in the cooker and cook till 4 whistles. Heat ghee in a pan for tadka. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds in it. Make tadka by adding chopped green chillies to it and serve it over khichdi.
