Hartalika Teej is being celebrated on 6th September this year. This Teej has a different significance in Hinduism. On this day, women keep fast and pray for a happy married life. Nirjala Vrat is observed on this occasion. For every festival, women make breakfast and some sweets at home. In such a situation, here we are telling you the method of making Bihar’s famous ‘Chandrakala’ sweet. You can make it on Hartalika Teej. See, the method of making it-

To make Chandrakala you need-

400 gms refined flour

300 grams sugar

500 gms ghee

20 to 30 cashew nuts, broken

a handful of broken pistachios

a handful of broken almonds

One teaspoon cardamom powder

Salt to taste

water as needed

a few saffron strands

How to make

To make it, boil the milk till it thickens like khoya and take it out. Then add sugar, ground cashews, almonds, pistachios and mix well till the sugar dissolves completely. Now add cardamom powder and mix well. Thicken it well.

Now knead the flour. For this, add salt to the flour. Add enough water and knead the dough like a puri well. Roll out small puris of the dough and add 1 to 2 teaspoons of milk-dry fruit filling. Now cover it with another puri. Apply water on the edges to stick it. Then close it like a Gujiya. Prepare all of them in the same way.

Then heat ghee in a pan and fry the prepared Chandrakala till it turns golden. After dipping them lightly in sugar syrup, garnish them with saffron threads. You can also sprinkle pishka powder on it.
