Modak is Bappa’s favourite. It is believed that during the war, one of Ganesh’s teeth was broken by the blow of an axe. After which he had trouble eating, so Mother Parvati made soft modaks and gave them to him. Ganesh liked them very much and since then modaks are his favourite offering. There are many types of modaks. Some people offer different types of modaks to Bappa every day during Ganesh Utsav. Here we are telling the method of making dry fruits-dates modak. These modaks are sugar free and anyone can make them easily. The good thing is that they are ready quickly. These modaks are also healthy because no sugar has been used to make them. To make Dry Fruits-Dates Modak you need
Half a cup of almonds
half a cup of cashews
a handful of pistachios
Two tablespoons ghee
How to make Dry Fruits and Dates Modak
To make modaks, heat a spoonful of ghee in a pan. Then add almonds, cashews and pistachios. Fry them for a few minutes. Then remove and let them cool. When the nuts cool down, chop the dates as well. Try to use soft dates. If they are hard, soak them in hot water for a while. Then put the roasted nuts in a mixer and grind them coarsely. Now add dates to it and grind a few more times. Blend it until it comes together, if you want you can add some ghee to this mix. Now after it is ready, make modaks with the help of a mold. If you do not have a mold, you can make modaks with your hands as well.
