Expert Opinion on PresVu Eye Drop: Indian pharmaceutical company Antod Pharmaceuticals has claimed to make an eye drop, which after being applied, will help presbyopia patients to see nearby objects clearly and can remove eyeglasses for several hours. The name of this drop is PresVu Eye Drop. This eye drop has also got the approval of the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI). However, doctors have started raising questions about this drop. Experts say that this drop can neither remove glasses permanently nor can it be considered safe right now.
Dr. Tushar Grover, Associate Consultant, Ophthalmology Department, Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi, told AnyTV that no such eye drop has been made in the world yet, which can remove glasses from the eyes permanently. The eye drop which is being discussed these days is pilocarpine drop. In this drop, pilocarpine has been prepared in lower concentration. However, pilocarpine drops have been used in the treatment of glaucoma for many decades. By applying this drop, people can see clearly for a few hours, but it also has some side effects.
Dr. Tushar told that when pilocarpine drops are put in the eyes, the pupil of the eye becomes smaller for about 6 hours, due to which the rays start falling directly on the retina and people start seeing near and far objects clearly. This is called pinhole effect. Those who are looking at it as an alternative to glasses, they have to understand that to avoid wearing glasses, this drop will have to be put in the eyes every 6 hours. Excessive use of this drop can also have some side effects on the eyes. It can cause headache, blurred vision, eye discomfort and irritation.
According to experts, on the basis of some medical reports, it can be said that using these eye drops repeatedly for a long time can increase the risk of retinal detachment. In such a condition, people lose their vision. Glasses are a permanent and safe solution for the eyes, whereas such drops cannot be considered safe for everyone’s eyes. People who do not see the side effects of these drops in their eyes can use these drops. At present, it is difficult to say how safe this drop will be for the eyes. Research is needed for this. With time, the safety of this drop will be known.
According to the doctor, atropine eye drops are given to children who have myopia (the inability to see distant objects), which help to some extent in stopping myopia progression, but even these drops are not capable of removing the power of glasses. Overall, it can be said that one should not try to remove glasses by putting any kind of drops in the eyes, because no such drops have been made yet. People should use glasses instead of temporary things, because glasses are safe for the eyes.
