It is believed that modak is the favourite of Ganpati Bappa. Ganeshotsav is going to start from 7th September, so preparations are going on in full swing from decorating the house to making various dishes to please Ganraj. If you want to make something special this Ganesh Chaturthi, then you can make peanut modak. See here how to make it-
To make Peanut Modak you need
2 cups raw peanuts
1/2 cup powdered jaggery or grated jaggery
2 tablespoon melted ghee
How To Make Peanut Modak
Heat a thick bottom pan and then add raw peanuts to it. Then roast the peanuts till they become crispy. Keep stirring it so that the peanuts do not burn. If you want, you can also fry it by reducing the heat in between. Then take out the roasted peanuts in a bowl and let it cool. When the peanuts come to room temperature, rub the peanuts between your palms so that their peel comes off. After removing the peel of the peanuts easily, take it out in a mixer jar and grind it coarsely. Now add jaggery and ghee to the peanuts again. If you like coarse texture, then take out the coarsely crushed peanuts in a plate and then add jaggery and ghee to it. But if you like smooth texture, then add ghee and jaggery and grind again. Now take out the mix in a plate, then knead so that all the things mix well.
Make modak like this
To make modaks, grease the modak mould with a few drops of ghee. Then take a portion of the peanut mix and put it in the mould. Press it well and remove the excess from the bottom edge. Open the mould and take out the modak.
