Do you know the history of the temple?
Radha Rani Temple was established around 5000 years ago by King Vajranabh. Red and white stones were used to build the temple, which is believed to symbolize the love of Radha and Shri Krishna. Radha Rani Temple is situated on a hill, with a height of about 250 meters.
The temple is located on Brahma hill and Vishnu hill
Barsana is built on two hills which are near each other. Brahma Hill is the name of the tall-white coloured hill, while Vishnu Hill is the name of the dark coloured hill. According to Padma Purana, Lord Brahma took the shape of these hills in Barsana to get the dust of the lotus feet of Goddess Radha Rani Lord Krishna and his devotees on his head. These hills have four peaks- Bhangarh, Mangarh, Daangarh and Vilasgarh. Each of these peaks represents one head of Lord Brahma. While the remaining three peaks are located on Brahma Hill, Vilasgarh is located on Vishnu Hill.
There is a different excitement during festivals
Special celebrations are held in this temple on Radha Ashtami and Krishna Janmashtami i.e. birthdays of Radha and Krishna. On both these days, the temple is decorated with flowers and lights. On this day, the deities are adorned with new clothes and jewellery. Then after the Aarti, 56 types of things are offered.
