Renowned company Jomato, who delivered online food and grocery goods, said on Thursday that it has received approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to change its name from March 20 to ‘Eaterial Limited’. According to PTI news, earlier the shareholders of Zomato had also approved a special proposal to change the name of the firm earlier this month. However, there has been no change in the brand name of the company’s online food distribution business Jomato. Not only this, the app is also kept the same.
There will be four major businesses of Eternal
According to reports, the Eternal will include four major businesses (so far) – zomato, blinkit, district and hyperpire. Jomato said in a regulatory filing that we want to inform you that the company Registrar of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has approved the name of the company from ‘Jomato Limited’ to ‘Eater Limited’ from March 20, 2025.
Last month, Jomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal said that our board has approved this change and I request my shareholders to support this change too. If it is approved, then our corporate website will be changed from zomato.com to eternal.com. We will also change our stock tick.
This decision was taken keeping in mind the future of the blinkit.
Goyal also said that the decision to change the name of the company publicly was in line with the future of the Blinkit to become a major driver for the future. When we acquired the blinkit, we started using internal (instead of zomato) to differentiate between the company and the brand/app. We also thought that the day something ahead of Zomato would become an important driver of our future, we will publicly change the company to keep the company. Today, with the blinkit, I think we have reached there.
