In such a situation, Bokaro’s senior Ayurvedic doctor, Dr. Rajesh Pathak (MD from National Institute of Health Science and Research, New Delhi, 16 years of experience in Patanjali Ayurveda and currently working in Shuddhi Ayurveda for 3 years) told LOCAL18 that water is very important for our body. Because it keeps our body hydrated. It also plays an important role in the prevention and treatment of many diseases, so everyone should regularly drink 2 to 3 liters of water daily.

According to Ayurveda and modern medicine, drinking warm water on an empty stomach in the morning is beneficial for the body in many ways. Warm water activates the digestive system. It helps in flushing out the toxins present in the intestines. This provides relief from constipation. Drinking warm water increases metabolism, which burns the fat stored in the body faster. It can prove to be helpful in weight loss. Warm water helps in detoxifying the liver and kidneys, which removes harmful elements present in the body. Warm water keeps the body warm from inside, which prevents seasonal diseases like cold and cough.

What are the disadvantages of drinking cold water?
According to expert Janak Kumar, drinking cold water on an empty stomach in the morning can be harmful to health. Cold water can contract the digestive system, slowing down the digestion process. This can cause problems like indigestion, gas and acidity. Drinking cold water can cause contraction of blood vessels, which slows down blood circulation and the body does not get the necessary nutrients on time. Cold water lowers the body temperature, which requires the body to expend more energy to bring it to its normal temperature. This can cause fatigue.

It is believed in Ayurveda that drinking warm water on an empty stomach in the morning keeps the three doshas in the body, Vata, Pitta and Kapha, balanced. This balance helps in protecting the body from 56 types of diseases. The major ones among these are digestive problems, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cold and cough, and skin diseases.
