The doctor says that the nitrates present in beetroot get converted into nitric oxide in the body, which reduces blood pressure by widening the blood vessels. Beetroot also contains an element called anthocyanin, which helps in keeping the heart healthy. Some athletes eat beetroot or drink beetroot juice while exercising to improve their performance. Beetroot is rich in folate (vitamin B9), which helps in the growth and functioning of cells.

Beetroot is rich in fiber, which improves digestion and relieves constipation. The fiber present in beetroot increases the good bacteria in the stomach, which increases immunity.
