If you are a driver and travel regularly from the highway, then this news is very important for you. The central government has taken a big decision regarding Fastag, which will be implemented from 15 August 2025. Now an annual pass facility will be provided for ₹ 3000 under a new scheme, which is specially prepared for private vehicles. Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has shared this information.
What is this new Fastag annual pass?
Under the government’s new initiative, the annual pass of Fastag based ₹ 3,000 is being launched. The validity of this near will remain until the completion of one of the two conditions:
For one year from the date of passing the pass
Or up to 200 trips, whichever is first.
This scheme will only be applicable for private non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps, vans, etc. and its purpose is to make the journey more accessible and economical on National Highways.
Why this new policy was brought?
Many vehicle owners across the country, especially in urban areas, pass through toll plaza located within a radius of 60 km. In such a situation, repeated toll proves to be annoyed and expensive. This new policy of the government has been brought to solve these problems. Nitin Gadkari clarified that the aim of this policy is to make the toll collection possible through a simple transaction, so that the driver does not have to give tolls every time and also avoid long queues.
How to get this annual pass?
For this, the government is going to release a separate link on highway travel app and websites of NHAI/MRTH. Through this link, users will be able to activate or renew the annual pass. This process will be made completely digital and user-friendly so that the vehicle owners do not face any problem. 📡 What is Fastag and how does it work? Fastag is an electronic toll collection system based on RFID (radio frequency identification) technology. It is applied on the windscreen of the vehicle and as soon as the vehicle passes through the toll plaza, the toll amount is automatically deducted from the fastag account.
Benefits of fastag
Cashless Transaction – Cash is not required to give toll.
Fast journey – No need to stop on toll plaza, can move directly.
SMS Alert – Every transaction information is available on mobile.
Online recharge facility – from debit card, net banking etc.
Tracking of transactions-Customers can go to the portal and see the statement.
Environmentally friendly – Saving fuel and reduction in pollution by prevention of long queues.
Beware of fasting mistakes related to fastag
Fastag paste on the windscreen correctly, otherwise there will be no scan and may be punished.
Do not enter the lane when the balance is over, otherwise the penalty will have to be paid.
Do not use fake or passive tags.
The government is continuously taking action against such drivers who try to save toll without tag or wrong tag.
Future plans: Fastag ahead of thinking
Nitin Gadkari recently indicated that India is moving towards a satellite -based toll collection system in the coming years, in which the toll will be taken on the basis of the location of the vehicle and the kilometer, without any toll plaza. With this system, the journey of the country will be completely uninterrupted and Fastag can also become history in the future.

This will not only make the journey easier but will also save money and save time. This is another important step towards Digital India.
