Everyone thinks of serving the country by becoming an IAS IPS. Whether the poor or the rich, the children of every household want to become an IAS after passing the UPSC exam. It was done right by Nandini, the daughter of a teacher from Karnataka’s Kolar district, who not only cracked the UPSC exam, considered one of the toughest in the world, but also became a distinguished civil servant.
Very inspiring story of Nandini, who has set an example by fighting all odds and becoming an IAS officer. He secured 642nd rank in his first attempt and joined IRS service in December 2015. But in 2016 not only she became IAS but also topped. Nandini did her early education from a government school. She came to Moodabidri in Chikmagalur district to study for class XII and secured 94.83 percent marks in the examination.
IAS topper Nandini, a civil engineering student at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, is the daughter of a teacher from Kolar district of Karnataka. Despite being an engineer, Nandini chose Kannada literature as her optional subject. Nandini says that ‘why only administrative service, wherever we are, give our best’.
Dreamed of becoming an IAS while working in PWD
After doing engineering from Nandini MS Ramaiah Institute, immediately joined the PWD department of Karnataka. Along with working in PWD, he saw and understood the working of the government at the grassroots level. Nandini says in an interview to the media that, “It was then that I thought that I can do better work for the society by becoming an IAS officer.”
IRS made in first attempt
Nandini gave her first attempt in 2015. In which he had secured 642nd rank and started training by joining IRS service in December 2015. It was during the training that Nandini decided to join a coaching institute in Delhi to prepare. In an interview given to the media, Nandini says, “An ideal officer can do a lot for the society if he is determined, dedicated to his work and always ready to accept challenges.”

A week before the test results were out, friends used to make fun of Nandini a lot. While teasing Nandini time and again, his friends used to enjoy that only Nandini will top the civil services exam this time. But who knew that what his friends were jokingly saying could prove to be true. When the results of the Civil Services Examination came, it was difficult for friends and Nandini to believe things.
In the results of the year 2016, Anmol Sher Singh Bedi got the second position and Gopalkrishna Ronanki got the third position. Nandini is a 2017 batch officer and topped the IAS exam. She had come to Bellary two years back. Prior to this she was the Assistant Commissioner in Taptitur. She hails from Kembodi village of Nandini Kolar. Let us inform that in Bellary, Karnataka, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer KR Nandini had chosen a government hospital instead of a private one for her delivery. In March 2022, she gave birth to a baby girl in a government hospital.
