The sudden death of 12 candidates during the race in the police constable recruitment process in Jharkhand has created a stir. While about 100 candidates are said to be admitted in the hospital. For the time being, the race has been banned and the police has also said that there is no irregularity of any kind and all medical facilities are available. But the opinion of the doctors is completely different about the sudden deaths of the youth while running. Of course, the doctors say that physical tests and running have always been there in recruitments, but such a dance of deaths has been seen and heard for the first time.
Regarding these deaths, News18hindi spoke to Dr. Nitish Nayak, a renowned cardiologist of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

Such deaths of young people are a matter of surprise
Dr. Nayak said that it is surprising that such young people who had come to participate in the race died in such a manner. At this age, a person is most healthy and capable of doing physical labour. Such a thing has never been heard of before.
These 4 things can be the reason for death
. Heat Exhaustion
Dr. Nayak says that as far as the possibility is concerned, heat exhaustion could be one of the reasons behind the death of most of the youth. The weather is still hot. The race is held in the open, so the sun is overhead. Staying in the sun for a long time can also make the body’s cooling system stop working, there can be a lack of water and electrolytes in the body, due to which heat exhaustion occurs and the candidate can faint. By the time he reaches the hospital, it is possible that he may die due to heat stroke.
The hospitalisation process lasts for several hours, so it is possible that the bodies of young people who live in normal temperatures suddenly failed to bear this temperature for a long time and a stroke occurred due to dehydration.
. Sudden cardiac arrest
Some deaths can also happen due to sudden cardiac arrest. Many athletes have also lost their lives while playing. In such a situation, it is also possible that due to sudden pressure on the heart while running, a situation of sudden cardiac arrest may have occurred and the candidate may have died on the spot. Sometimes a heart attack can also happen but the condition may have become critical by the time the person reaches the hospital.
Have you had any problems before?
Dr. Nayak says that since there is no medical examination or routine checkup before the recruitment race, which can reveal whether someone has high blood pressure, diabetes or any other problem. Nor are the youth thoroughly questioned whether they have any medical or heart issue, in such a long race it is possible that the issue suddenly gets triggered and the candidate dies.
. Suddenly working hard without practice
Dr. Nayak said that if a youth without prior practice goes out in the sun to complete a 10 km run in 60 minutes during recruitment, then it is very dangerous and it is possible that the sudden burden of something for which the body was not prepared, may lead to heart failure, stroke or some other reason for death. There may be different reasons for the deaths of all the youth.
This arrangement should be done for protection
Dr. Nayak says that before such recruitment races, the youth should undergo medical examination. Their fitness level should be checked. There should be no medical history. Before such a long distance race, a short distance race can be made an option. The postmortem reports of those who have died should also be assessed, so that it can be known what was the real cause of the deaths and why it happened. So that precautions can be taken during future recruitments.
So many candidates died at these centers
Let us tell you that a total of 7 centers were set up across the state for the Jharkhand Excise Constable Recruitment Examination which started on 22 August. Apart from two examination centers in Ranchi, Giridih, Palamu, CTC Musabani, Sahibganj are included in this. The news of the death of the candidates first came from Palamu district. After the examination on 27 August, four candidates died the next day. After this, news of the death of two other students involved in the race came from Hazaribagh district. The police finally confirmed the death of 11 candidates involved in the Excise Constable Recruitment race on Sunday, September 1. After this, news of the death of another candidate in Ranchi hospital also came, due to which the death toll has now increased to 12.
Who lost his life?
In the Jharkhand excise constable recruitment, Amresh Kumar in Palamu, Ajay Mahato, Arun Kumar, Pradeep Kumar in Ranchi, Suraj Verma, Mahesh Kumar in Hazaribagh, Sumit Kumar in Giridih, Pintu Kumar in East Singhbhum, Deepak Paswan and 3 other candidates have died.
