The festival of Bakrid 2025 in India will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7. This date has been set on the basis of seeing the moon in India, which according to the Islamic calendar falls on the 10th district-Hija. Dates can vary from this day in different countries, as it depends on seeing the moon. For example, this festival will be celebrated on Friday, June 6 in Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries.
The festival of Bakrid in India is celebrated in memory of Islamic Prophet Abraham’s feeling of loyalty and sacrifice towards Allah. On this day special prayers are offered, and animals are sacrificed, which is called Qurbani. The flesh of sacrifice is divided into three parts: one part for the family, the other for relatives and friends, and the third part for the poor and the needy. This promotes the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation in the society.
Bakrid is a government holiday in India, and on this day government offices, banks, schools and colleges are closed. However, this captive depends on the state-particular, as it does not have a holiday in some states. Banking services, such as online banking and UPI transactions, are normally operational, but branches remain closed
Administrative preparations are also made in various states regarding this day. For example, Patna District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police have reviewed law and order for Bakrid and have directed to take special vigilance at sensitive places. Also, it is planned to monitor anti -social elements in Gandhi Maidan and special attention on social media.
Thus, the festival of Bakrid will be celebrated in India on 7 June, and is a symbol of faith, sacrifice and unity for the Muslim community.
