Parents often worry about the food habits of their growing children. Most parents are troubled by the tantrums of children about food at this age. Children always making faces at the sight of dal-roti (food) of the house becomes a cause of trouble for the parents. Their increasing craze for fast food, leaving the food rich in nutrients necessary for growing age, remains a big problem for almost every parent. The lack of nutrients necessary for the body starts causing weak immunity in children, due to which children start falling sick frequently. If you also reach your child’s doctor all the time with the same question that why your child does not want to eat homemade food, then the answer to your question has been given by pediatrician Sorojit Gupta by sharing one of his Instagram videos. In this Instagram video, Dr. Gupta has given 3 main reasons behind children doing this. Let’s know about them.
What has the child eaten?
Dr. Gupta says that parents often feel that their child stays hungry the whole day. But when you talk to children, you come to know that they are eating something or the other by snacking and munching. In such a situation, if your child refuses to eat food next time, then first of all try to know that if he is not feeling hungry, then what has he eaten to satisfy his hunger. Keep children away from fast food and preservative food. Especially do not give unhealthy things to children to eat one hour before and one hour after eating.
More milk-
Another reason for the child not eating homemade food is drinking too much milk. Actually, many parents keep giving milk to the child to drink at short intervals throughout the day. Due to this, the child’s stomach gets filled and he gets the calories required for the body from milk only.
Giving food to children late
Many times parents start giving solid food to their child late. This can further aggravate the problem by creating aversion towards food in the child. By doing this, children start avoiding eating food.
These other reasons can also be responsible-
Other reasons behind a child not eating food include teething, travelling, falling sick, constipation or gas in the stomach.
Doctor’s advice-
-It is possible that the child is bored of eating the same kind of food every day. In such a situation, to feed healthy food to your child, decorate his plate with a different and new dish of colorful vegetables and fruits every day and serve it in a tasty way.
Apart from this, you can also try feeding the food to the child at some other time and place.
Never force your child to eat food, doing so increases the possibility of food rejection from the child. Feed the child while playing and eat yourself too.
-Finally, stop taking stress. Meal rejection in children happens only for some time. This problem gradually gets cured on its own.
