Every living being came into this world and then one day it is a firm truth to go from this world. In Hinduism, this life-death cycle has been seen as a journey to the soul, in which death is not the end but the beginning of a new life. In this process the cremation is a sacred and funeral, which is called the funeral of the sixteen rites of life.
Hinduism believes that when a person dies, his body eventually merges into them due to being made from the five elements – earth, water, fire, air and sky. But during this process it is mandatory to follow certain rules and traditions. One of these is – do not look back while returning from the crematorium.
Religious reasons behind the tradition of not looking back
It is mentioned in religious texts and Puranas that when a person is cremated, his soul is present near. She is looking at her family members and many times she is not free due to attachment or fascination towards her. If a person sees the pyre back after fire, it may be a sign for the soul that someone is calling him or wants to take him along.
In such a situation, the soul can walk together, which can disrupt the next journey of the dead soul. This is the reason why strictly forbidden not to look back while returning after cremation. This tradition is not only from a religious point of view, but also mentally and emotionally very depth.
What to do if you accidentally turn back?
Many times, inadvertently or emotionally distressed, a person looks back. In such a situation, there are some special measures in the scriptures, which can be avoided by adopting that negative effects:
Bake hands and feet in the fire at a short distance before returning home.
Touch iron, stone and water.
Throw a stone backwards and then spray water.
Chew some neem leaves and green chillies and spit.
Be sure to bathe before entering the house.
These measures remove negative energy and protect against any unwanted effects.
These important precautions should be taken at the time of cremation
Wrap the body in holy and new clothes.
The body should not be naked when placing the body on the pyre, it is considered impure and inappropriate.
Flowers, sandalwood and five types of wood should be placed on the body.
The pyre must be revolved around, it is a symbol of tribute to the dead soul.
The person who gives fire to the pyre finally goes out directly after not turning back and not turning back.
Energy of cremation from spiritual perspective
The cremation ghat is considered to be a place where many souls gather. Therefore, the energy here is very sensitive. When a person dies, his soul is unstable and is bound by fascination. By looking back, the energy of a person can also connect with that fascination, which increases the risk of mental and spiritual trouble.
