According to the Election Commission, out of the total Rs 1000 crore, Rs 858 crore has been seized from Maharashtra and Jharkhand alone. The surprising thing is that this amount is almost 7 times more than the amount seized in the 2019 assembly elections. Let us tell you that the second phase of voting in Jharkhand is on 20th November. Voting will also take place in Maharashtra on the same day. After this, the results will be declared in both the states on 23 November.
Investigation campaign was conducted in 14 states including Maharashtra, Jharkhand
According to the data, Rs 103.61 crore was seized from Maharashtra in the 2019 assembly elections, while in Jharkhand this figure was Rs 18.76 crore. This time, enforcement agencies have seized over Rs 1,000 crore in cash, liquor and other inducements during the ongoing bypolls in Maharashtra, Jharkhand and 14 states, the Election Commission said.
Ganja and silver were also seized
Election Commission officials said recoveries were recorded in all clusters in all districts of Maharashtra, which is significantly higher than the previous assembly elections. Talking about some notable actions, cash worth Rs 3.70 crore was recovered from a suspicious jeep in Wada police station area of Palghar district. Apart from this, 4500 kg of ganja plants worth Rs 4.51 crore have been seized in Jamod AC of Buldhana district. At the same time, silver worth Rs 5.20 crore has been seized in Raigarh.
