New Delhi, 2 April (IANS). Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh said on Wednesday that the state government is planning to establish 34 to 36 Ayushman Arogya temples in the national capital under the ‘Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission’.
Pankaj Singh said in a special conversation with IANS, “We are planning to open around 34 or 35 centers. I can’t confirm the exact number right now – it can be 30 or 36. We will tell the final figure in the next 15 to 20 days.”
He recently targeted the opposition Aam Aadmi Party regarding the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
He said, “I would advise the Opposition (AAP) to learn to face the truth. If the CAG report, they should sit at least and review their mistakes. They have cheated the people of Delhi and made mistakes. Who will stop them from paying fines for these mistakes and accepting the truth?”
Citing the CAG report presented during the Delhi Assembly budget session, the Health Minister said, “People involved in scams will not be spared. We are focusing on our work, and our party really cares about the health system and is taking steps to improve the infrastructure of healthcare.”
Meanwhile, the BJP government led by Rekha Gupta has allocated Rs 12,893 crore for the health sector in the budget of FY 2025-26 for major initiatives like Ayushman India-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, setting up of two new medical colleges and adding 16,186 beds to government hospitals. An important part of the budget is allocated for the India-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, which aims to provide financial security and affordable healthcare to more families in the capital.
Additionally, Rs 1,666.66 crore has been allocated under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission to increase critical care block and diagnostic features. In this, Rs 320 crore will be used to set up 400 Health and Welfare Center (HWC), which is also known as Ayushman Arogya Temple (AAM).
The budget also includes Rs 9.92 crore for Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which aims to make patients’ records digital and improve access to health services.
In addition, Rs 147.64 crore has been allocated to expand financial security under the Jan Arogya Yojana to ensure that more and more families can avail free, cashless treatment for serious diseases.
