On Wednesday, four people died in the midst of widespread devastation after cloudburst at five places in Dharamshala and Kullu, while about nine people are missing. It has three people missing in Kullu and five to six in Dharamshala.

A laborer saved

The NDRF and SDRF rescue operations continued for the second day to find laborers flowing in Manuni Khad in Khaniyara. The rescue teams have taken out a laborer safely. While the body of another laborer has been recovered from the pit. So far, the bodies of a total of three workers have been recovered in the last two days. NDRF Commandant Baljinder Singh himself is on the spot. Rescue operations have been affected for some time due to rain. It is believed that 5 to 6 workers are still missing. Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said that eight workers of the project were reported to have been washed away due to excessive water in the pit.

50 tourist-treakers trapped in Bakarthach due to floods in the canal were rescued

The administration has saved 50 tourist trackers from Bakarthach. All these were trapped in Bakarthach after heavy rains. Hundreds of tourists were trapped with more than 150 tourist vehicles in Sanshar, Shanghar and Suchaihan Panchayat areas of Sainz Valley. A bridge and a vehicle were swept away in the floods due to cloudburst on the Banjar-Bathar road in Horangad. Local people rescued the students after debris entered the government primary school. 10 small bridges were swept away with Hurala Nala, Pancha Nala and Manihar Nala in the Gadsa Valley of Kullu. Four flights were canceled at Gagal Airport on Wednesday, but two flights in Delhi and Shimla were canceled. There was no flight from Shimla and Kullu due to bad weather. Meteorological Center Shimla has issued a yellow alert of heavy rains at many places in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. Yellow alert has also been issued for 27, 28, 1 and 2 July. On 29 and 30 June, there is an orange alert of heavy rainfall in the state. The Meteorological Department has also issued flood warnings in some areas of five districts Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur today. During the last 24 hours, Palampur 76.6, Banjar 75.4, Barrage 55.0, Dharamshala 40.1, Narkanda 39.0, Shilaru 33.6, Chamba 32.0, Una 30.6, Sarahan 28.4, Baijnath: 28.0, Amb 26.0 and Rampur recorded 25.0 mm. CM kept taking updates till late night

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu continued to take updates from the local administration till late night to update the damage caused by cloudburst and heavy rains. He has instructed the administration to help the affected immediately. He said that all possible help is being given to the affected. The Chief Minister was in touch with the officials concerned till late night. At the same time, the CM appealed to the tourists to come to Himachal without any fear and enjoy the monsoon season, but the CM advised him not to go to the rivers and canals. BJP national president JP Nadda has expressed grief over the loss of life and property due to cloudburst.

Silt in Pandoh Dam, power generation temporarily closed in Dehar Power House, on BBMB alert

The water level of Beas river has increased due to heavy rains and cloudburst in the district Kulla, due to which the water level of Pandoh Dam has also increased. However, the situation is currently under control and the situation remains normal. Giving information, Superintendent Engineer Ajay Pal Singh of BBMB Sundernagar said that the water level of the dam was recorded at 2925 feet on Wednesday. At that time about 33 thousand cusecs of water was flowing in the dam and 29 thousand cusecs of water was released from the dam gates, which was part of the normal process. In the rainy season of 2023, more than 2 lakh cusecs of water was released in Pandoh Dam, causing heavy damage. At the same time, due to heavy silt in Pandoh Dam, water supply to Dehar Power House has been stopped from 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening, due to which power generation has been temporarily discontinued. According to officials, water will not be released from the tunnel until the amount of silt in the dam becomes normal. The water level of the dam was measured 2913 feet at 10:00 am on Thursday, which is far below the danger mark 2941 feet. At present, about 20 thousand cusecs of water is coming in the dam and the same water is being released further. All five gates of the dam are open so that the flow of water remains regular.
