Ramallah, October 28 (IANS). Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian who allegedly tried to attack him with a car near a military checkpoint north of Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Authority’s Jerusalem Governorate said in a statement on Sunday that a young man named Sami al-Amoudi, who lived in the Shufat refugee camp, was shot dead by Israeli soldiers.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli police announced that a vehicle driven by a Palestinian tried to hit soldiers near the Palestinian village of Hizma, after which soldiers opened fire on the attacker, according to Xinhua news agency.
In a statement, police said no one was injured in the attack and the terrorist was killed immediately.
Following the incident, roads in the area were closed and a large number of soldiers and police were dispatched to the scene.
This Sunday, a truck hit a bus near a military base in Israel’s central region, injuring about 33 people, six of whom are in critical condition, according to Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency services. When paramedics arrived at the scene, eight people were trapped under the truck.
Emergency services rescued seven people from under the truck with the help of civilians, and the last person was rescued with the help of the fire brigade.
