After the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha raised the issue of expensive catering at airports, the government has also decided to start a flight passenger cafe in Chennai after Kolkata. It was first started from Kolkata Airport and now Chennai Airport has also joined the initiative. Due to this, passengers have started getting water, tea and breakfast at cheap rates, which will give them relief.
MP Raghav Chadha has expressed happiness over this achievement and thanked for the support of the general public for this campaign. He posted on X and said that even a small spark can illuminate the darkness. First Kolkata, now Chennai. I am glad that cheap canteen are being started at airports. Thanks to all those who support this demand. Every small effort brings big changes.
In the winter session of Parliament last year, Raghav Chadha raised the issue of expensive catering at airports. He had told that water bottle at airports is sold at Rs 100, tea 200-250 and other breakfast at very expensive prices, causing problems for common passengers. He had demanded from the government that affordable canteens should be started at airports, so that people of all classes could get food and tea-coffee at a reasonable price during air travel.
The government took the issue seriously and launched the ‘Udaan Passenger Cafe’. It was launched as a pilot project at Kolkata Airport, where water, tea, coffee and snacks are now available at cheap prices. At the same time, now Chennai Airport has also joined this initiative.
MP Raghav Chadha had said in Parliament that the government had promised that even those wearing air slippers would be able to travel by airplane, but the reality is that even those wearing Bata shoes cannot bear the cost of air fare and expensive catering at airports. He emphasized in Parliament that instead of making air travel cheaper, the government is promoting inflation at airports.
Win of passengers- Now food will be available at cheap prices
After this initiative, passengers will no longer have to spend much money for tea and coffee. Bottled water, tea, coffee and snacks will now be available at regular prices at flight passenger cafes. The government has also indicated that it will also be implemented at other airports, which will benefit passengers across the country.
Raghav Chadha’s speech was overshadowed in Parliament
He was also highly appreciated on social media after Raghav Chadha raised this issue. Many people called it a fight for the rights of the passengers. Chushul councilor from Ladakh also supported this and said that the people of Ladakh are already troubled by expensive air tickets in winter, now expensive food at the airport has increased their problems. This effort of Raghav Chadha is commendable.
Raghav Chadha has welcomed the government’s move, but also said that this is just the beginning. He demanded that the flight passenger cafe should be implemented at all big airports in the country including Delhi as soon as possible, so that every passenger can get the benefit of this facility. He said that I will keep raising the voice of the people in Parliament. Your opinion and suggestions are important to me. We can all change together.
