Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to the District Election Officer, New Delhi, alleging that there has been an “abnormal increase” in applications for addition and deletion of names in the voter list in the New Delhi Assembly constituency in recent days.
“I wish to draw your attention to the significant increase in the number of applications received for addition and deletion of names in the voter list in the New Delhi assembly constituency in the last few days,” the letter dated December 28 said.
The AAP convenor further alleged that a “sinister plan” was being hatched to tamper with the voter list.
The letter said, “It is worrying that these applications have been submitted after the conclusion of the extensive special summary amendment process. This raises serious concerns about a sinister scheme to tamper with the voter lists, which could lead to any It is the basis of free and fair elections.”
Highlighting the sharp increase in applications for addition and deletion of voters’ names, Kejriwal asked “on whose orders the names of voters are being deleted” and requested the District Election Officer to share the details of the persons who had filed the same on October 29. Till now, more than five name removal applications have been submitted.
The letter said, “To address this matter, I request you to provide details of those persons (objectors) who have submitted more than five deletion applications since October 29, 2024. Specifically, We want copies of either their EPIC details or the Form 7 filed by them. Who are those who are eager to remove the names of voters? What are their intentions?
The AAP convenor urged that “names of voters should not be struck off” in the constituency, unless it is a case of migration or death. He further said that if the Election Commission finds it necessary to delete the name of any voter, before taking such action, a thorough ground verification should be done by the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in the presence of booth level agents of all the parties.
The letter further states, “To protect the integrity of the electoral process, I strongly urge that no further voter names be removed in the constituency unless it is a case of migration (i.e. Form 8) and In case the Election Commission considers it absolutely necessary to remove the name of a voter, it should be accompanied by a death certificate. booth of Thorough ground verification should be done by the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in the presence of Level Agent (BLA-1 and BLA-2). The former Delhi Chief Minister also held a press conference today, in which he accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of running “Operation Lotus” in his constituency since December 15, whereby 5,000 votes were deleted and 7,500 votes were added. Applications have been filed.
The AAP convenor said, “In my New Delhi assembly constituency – their (BJP) ‘Operation Lotus’ is going on since December 15. In these 15 days, they have filed applications for deletion of 5,000 votes and addition of 7,500 votes. ..
