Born on 21 April 1989 in Barnala, Punjab, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair was raised in an ordinary family. His father Chamkaur Singh Hair and mother Sarabjit Kaur raised him with moral values and a sense of social concerns.
In the field of education, he received B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) degree from Swami Vivekananda Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab.

Start of political journey
Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair started his political life as one of the earliest activists of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He was associated with social concerns from student life and continued actively to spread political awareness among the youth. During the year 2014-15, when the Aam Aadmi Party was expanding its Aadhaar in Punjab, Meet Hair took over the responsibility of strengthening the youth branch of the party. Second term (2022)
In 2022, he won again by getting about 50% of the votes from Barnala seat. The Aam Aadmi Party won a historic majority in this election and Bhagwant Mann became the Chief Minister of Punjab. On March 19, 2022, Meet Hair was sworn in as a cabinet minister.
