In the February 5 assembly elections in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won power by winning 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP got 22 seats.

Shinde became the Chief Minister with the support of the BJP and later he also gained control over the Shiv Sena.
