Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar said on Thursday that even God will not be able to change Bangalore overnight. He stressed the need to plan to deal with urban challenges and issues related to infrastructure. DK Shivkumar, while accepting the challenges caused in Bengaluru due to rapid urbanization, said that even God cannot bring immediate changes in it. He said, ‘Even if God starts coming from heaven and walking on the streets of Bengaluru, nothing will change in one or two years. The situation is very challenging. The Deputy Chief Minister further said that we need to make appropriate plans and implement the projects effectively. We are trying to develop a better corridor for the coming time.

Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Namma Raha-Dizine Workshop’ and the inauguration of the traffic laboratory at the Central Office of Brihat Bangalore Municipalities Municipality, Shivkumar said that it is impossible to change Bangalore overnight. Even if God also comes to earth, it will not be possible. However, change is possible if we make appropriate plans and implement them effectively. Shivkumar insisted that uniformity, quality and discipline should be maintained in all aspects of the urban infrastructure including roads, walking and green areas. He said that the government aims to set up standardized designs for all bus stops, metro poles and traffic junctions, ensuring uniformity throughout the city.

He presented the booklet of the ‘Namma Raha-Dizine Workshop’ in the workshop. During this, he said that plantation, street lights on the roadside, infrastructure for pedestrians and clear guidelines will be given on traffic discipline. Workshops, exhibitions and conferences of various transport systems will be held on 20, 21 and 22 February under Namm Rasta-2025. The program has been designed to find solutions to the development of roads, pavements and increasing traffic through coordination of several departments under the same roof. This program will highlight many aspects of mobility. Which includes walking facilities, non-motorized transport and road infrastructure. This program will showcase how strong data can give better urban planning information.
Opposition strongly criticized
At the same time, Leader of Opposition R Ashok sharply criticized DK Shivkumar’s statement. Attacking the state government in the social media post, he said that after accepting no money for development works in the Karnataka government, now Bangalore Development Minister DK Shivkumar says that even if God comes, even then the next 2-3 years. Bangalore cannot change. He further said that people have no hope from DK Shivkumar or his government. He described the Congress government as a curse for Karnataka and Bengaluru and claimed that people are eagerly waiting to remove the ‘disappointing’ Congress government.
