However, this visit of Rahul Gandhi is now getting involved in controversies. Delhi University (DU) has objected to this. Also, it has been instructed not to do so again.
Delhi University has objected to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s sudden visit to North Campus. The university says that it is a violation of the institutional protocol and is obstructing the functioning of the student administration. Gandhiji met Scheduled Castes, Tribes and Other Backward Class students. The student union has justified the tour, while ABVP has criticized it. The university has said to take action against the guilty students.
What did Delhi University say on Rahul’s visit?
The proctor office said in a statement here that Rahul Gandhi has made such a tour for the second time. He has come to Delhi University without any notice before. The university condemned Gandhi’s visit and said that it hoped that such an incident would not happen again.
The statement said that the DUSU office has been surrounded and no one is allowed to enter. It is said that DUSU Secretary was also stopped from going to his office. It claimed that some students were locked in the room of DUSU Secretary and misbehaved by NSUI students. Strict action will be taken against the students involved in this.
DUSU president attacked the university
After the university’s warning, DUSU President Raunak Khatri retaliated and said that there is no rule under which the student union president needs to take permission for the private guest. The tour was held peacefully and only in the DUSU office premises. Whereas I am a fully entitled to invite any guest, being a duly elected president of Delhi University Students Union. He said that calling this visit unauthorized is not only factually wrong, but also a sign of misleading and administrative encroachment.
