New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) The BRICS National Security Advisor (NSA) summit will be held in Kazan in October under the chairmanship of Russia. Before that, Ajit K. Doval will visit Russia next week. It is being said that during this time the Russia-Ukraine war will be discussed.
According to sources, he may also hold a meeting with his Chinese counterpart during this visit. Doval is also likely to hold separate meetings with his Russian counterpart and representatives of other BRICS member countries. Earlier, he attended the 13th BRICS NSA meeting in Johannesburg in 2023.
Last year, five new members Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia were added to the group. This will be the first BRICS NSA meeting after this.
During the phone conversation of the Prime Minister with President Putin, it was discussed that the Prime Minister will send his NSA to Russia to discuss ideas related to peace after his Ukraine visit. In view of this, NSA Ajit Doval will visit Russia.
The BRICS National Security Advisors’ Meeting is an important milestone in BRICS political and security cooperation. Under this meeting, the High Representatives on National Security discuss security issues such as terrorism, cyber security, peace and stability, transnational organised crime as well as the national security of the BRICS countries.
The National Security Advisors (NSAs) of the BRICS countries have been meeting since 2009 to enhance dialogue and exchange of information on security issues.
The BRICS countries have rapidly developed a counter-terrorism strategy. The strategy aims to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation as well as international peace and security and make a meaningful contribution to global efforts to prevent and combat the threat of violent terrorism.
Let us tell you that in 2020, the 10th meeting of the BRICS NSA was held to brainstorm on topics such as BRICS partnership for global stability, shared security and innovative development. During the meeting, the participants had an in-depth exchange of views on key issues related to global, regional and national security and security in the use of ICT.
The NSAs also discussed key areas of practical cooperation within BRICS to combat terrorism and violent extremism, transnational organised crime and illicit drug trafficking.
