Lucknow, September 5 (IANS). A robbery accused was killed in an encounter by the police in Sultanpur, UP. Politics has now started regarding this incident. Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has raised questions on the UP police and the government regarding the incident.
Reacting to the incident, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Only a symbolic bullet was fired on the legs and life was taken on the basis of caste.”
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav wrote on the social media platform X, “It seems that the ruling party had deep connections with those involved in the Sultanpur robbery, that is why before the fake encounter, the ‘main accused’ was contacted and made to surrender and other party members were shot only on their feet and were killed on the basis of their ‘caste’.”
He further said that when the main accused has surrendered, all the looted goods should be returned and the government should pay separate compensation because the mental trauma caused by such incidents takes a lot of time to recover from, which leads to loss of business, which should be compensated by the government.
Akhilesh Yadav said, “Fake encounters turn protectors into predators. The solution is not fake encounters but real law and order. BJP rule is the Amritkaal of criminals. Till the public pressure and anger does not reach its peak, the work of sharing in the loot continues and when it seems that the public will surround them, then fake encounters are shown as a superficial balm. The public understands how some people are saved and how others are implicated.”
Let us tell you that on 28th August in Sultanpur, UP, five miscreants entered a shop in broad daylight and looted jewellery and cash worth crores at gunpoint. While revealing the incident on Tuesday, the Superintendent of Police said that a total of 15 miscreants were identified in this. After the arrest of three miscreants in the encounter, 11 miscreants were absconding.
On Thursday morning, the team of Deputy SP STF Dharmesh Shahi killed the accused Mangesh in an encounter on the side of the highway in Hanumanganj (Dehat Kotwali Sultanpur). 10 criminals are still absconding.
