Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal demanded an all -party meeting to be called on Sunday after agreed to stop military action between India and Pakistan, but at the same time urged political parties not to agree on joining it until the government assures that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present in it.
Sibal also demanded that a special session of Parliament be called to be called, saying that he is confident that if Manmohan Singh had been the Prime Minister today, he would have appeared in an all -party meeting and special session would have been called.
Addressing a press conference, Sibal mentioned the social media post of US President Donald Trump.
Trump had said that he was proud that the US could help reach this “historical and adventure decision”.
Sibal said, “Many questions will also arise on this tweet. (US) Foreign Minister Marco Rubio said that talks were going on for the last 48 hours. So we were not given any information about what happened, how it happened and why it happened. “He also said,” There will be a meeting at neutral sites. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has also spoken to NSA (National Security Advisor) Ajit Doval. ”
He said, “We will not criticize today because it is not a time of criticism.” We only want Parliament to have a special session and an all -party meeting should be called. I want to appeal to all political parties that unless the government assures them that the Prime Minister is present in the meeting, they do not agree to attend the meeting.
The Independent member of the Rajya Sabha said, “I am confident that if Dr. Manmohan Singh had been the Prime Minister today, he would have been present in the all -party meeting and a special session would have been called.”
He said that MPs cannot wait till the monsoon session to get detailed information about what has happened in the last few days.
Sibal said that he did not like that Prime Minister Modi did not participate in the all -party meeting after the Pahalgam terror attack.
He said, “Perhaps he (Modi) would have thought that Bihar elections are more important. He also went to Bollywood, Kerala. They feel that whenever such an incident happens, no matter what happens in Manipur, there is no need to go there. ”
The former Congress leader appreciated the armed forces for giving a befitting reply to Pakistan. He said that the country said in one voice that enough is enough and Pakistan should be replied.
Sibal made this statement after the consent on Saturday to prevent all types of shells and military actions between India and Pakistan with immediate effect.
