M/s DM Gaming Pvt Ltd sought permission to operate a gaming unit, which was rejected. The reason for rejecting it was that these games were considered gambling. On January 24, 2024, the office of DCP City, Agra Police Commissionerate passed an order, which aggrieved the court. Actually, the DCP office refused to run this unit. He said that these games can disrupt peace and harmony, he considered it gambling based only on logic.
Why did the court call it a skill?
The court said on this matter that it is not right to just not recognize such recreational games as gambling. They should have solid evidence to deny it. They should have evidence and records to consider non-recognition. Along with this, the court said that allowing the operation of gaming units cannot prevent the authorities from monitoring activities like illegal gambling. Along with this, the court has considered their gambling as a skill.
