Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday took a dip in the Triveni Sangam amid the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. Shah took the dip at around 1 pm in the presence of some top saints. Amidst the chanting of mantras, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took a dip separately.
The Home Minister earlier interacted with Junapithadhishwar Mahamandaleshwar Acharya Avadheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj and some other top saints at a cottage on the floating jetty.
During Shah’s visit, unprecedented security arrangements were made in the fair area and Prayagraj. The fair area was completely declared a no-vehicle zone, while several route diversions were made in Prayagraj city, affecting locals and pilgrims.
Earlier, the Home Minister said in a post on Twitter that “Maha Kumbh is a unique symbol of the continuous flow of Sanatan culture. Kumbh reflects the life philosophy of Sanatan Dharma, which is rooted in harmony.”
He said, “I look forward to taking a dip in the Sangam and receiving blessings from the saints on this great festival of unity and integrity in the holy city of Prayagraj.”
According to the state government, till 10 am on Monday, more than 53.29 lakh people had taken the holy dip in the Maha Kumbh.
It said that there are more than 10 lakh Kalpavasis in the mela area and more than 13.21 crore people have taken a dip in it since the mega religious gathering started on January 13.
Mahakumbh will continue till 26th February.
