Angered by Nityanand Rai’s statement, opposition MPs walked from Rajya Sabha, said – ‘Provide charges’

नित्यानंद राय के बयान से नाराज विपक्षी सांसदों ने राज्यसभा से किया वॉकआउट, बोले -

New Delhi, 2 April (IANS). Responding to the discussion on the ‘Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025’ in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai accused the opposition of promoting infiltration, which the opposition MPs raised strong objections and walked out of the House. The purpose of this bill is to regulate the immigration, entry and stay of foreigners in India.

The Minister of State for Home alleged that the former Congress government at the Center and the current Trinamool government of West Bengal are helping illegal migrants to infiltrate the country and include them in voter list and ration cards. Opposition MPs strongly objected to his statement.

After walkingout from the House, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said that Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai violated the traditions of the House and made false allegations without facts. He said, “Such a minister is speaking as Minister of State for Home, who does not have knowledge of facts, does not have knowledge of history, and does not have knowledge of rules. He has no evidence for the allegations that he is making in the House.”

Tiwari also alleged that the ministers are not respecting the traditions of the Sadan and he was making a statement without knowing. On this, MPs of Congress and opposition parties walked out of the House.

Trinamool MP Ritbrata Banerjee said that the minister was taking the House in the wrong direction and his statement was completely confused. He alleged that the minister deliberately misled the House and its purpose was to take political advantage only. He said, “This is a black lie. What the minister said in the House was completely wrong. He accused him without any fact and when we asked the facts, he had no answer.”

Congress MP Digvijay Singh said, “We express deep objections to the fact that the Minister of State for Home accused the Congress -ruled states that the infiltration was increasing there. The minister made this allegation without any evidence. If his claim is correct, he will give an example of where it happened and how they have dealt. Did.”

Trinamool’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev also criticized Nityanand Rai’s statement and said, “The talks that have been done by the Minister of State for Home is completely false. He claimed that infiltrations are mainly coming from Congress and Trinamool -ruled states, but when we ask him how many intruders they had deployed, they had no facts.”

Dev also alleged that the ministers were giving political speeches in the House, which was against the traditions of the House. He said, “It is very sad that the ministers are lying in the House and not presenting any facts.”

RJD’s Manoj Jha also expressed his displeasure over the issue and said that this statement of the minister was going to destroy the dignity of the minister. He said, “The dignity of a minister is the dignity, but today the Minister of State for Home has wired this dignity. He is using the House to lie and this is a very dangerous example of how the proceedings of Parliament can be affected by WhatsApp-based information. We should strongly condemn it.”

Trinamool MP Dola Sen also opposed Nityanand Rai’s allegations and said that it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure the security of the country’s borders. He said, “The Home Minister and his ministry are responsible for border security, but when infiltration is wrong, it is wrong to put it on the state governments. The central government should fulfill its responsibility, not the state governments.”

After a strong debate on the matter in the Rajya Sabha, MPs of opposition parties walked out of the House, causing an uproar in the House. The opposition alleged that the statement of the Minister of State for Home was wrong and without proof. They wanted the ministers to prove their allegations, but when they did not get any clear answer, they walked out as a protest.

The Rajya Sabha passed the ‘Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025’ after discussion. The Lok Sabha has already approved it. Under this, new rules will be implemented for immigration and stay of foreigners in India. Under the Bill, it is proposed to identify illegal migrants and take steps to go through the process of expulsion. Apart from this, the bill also states that strict action will be taken against those who violate the entry and stay of foreign nationals.
