Delhi News Desk !!! The Supreme Court on Friday gave a big relief to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He was granted bail by the apex court in the corruption case related to the Delhi liquor policy case filed by the CBI. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjwal Bhayan said that keeping someone in jail for a long time is unjustly depriving him of his freedom. What is in when-what happened?

October 2023: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued the first summons to Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case. He was asked to appear on November 2.

November 2, 2023: Arvind Kejriwal did not appear before the ED. Instead, he went to attend an election rally organised in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.

December 2023: Kejriwal did not appear on the second ED summons. He rejected the ED summons, calling them illegal and politically motivated.

January 2024: Arvind Kejriwal skips the third summons by the Enforcement Directorate, saying a conspiracy is being hatched against him by the Centre.

18 January 2024: ED issued the fourth summons. Kejriwal was requested to appear before the agency for questioning at all costs.

February 2, 2024: Kejriwal did not attend the fourth and then the fifth summons. ED issued the sixth summons. Kejriwal’s legal team questioned the validity of the summons.

16 March 2024: ED approaches sessions court after Kejriwal did not respond to summons. However, the court decided to grant him bail on two complaints filed by him.

21 March 2024: Kejriwal challenged the ED summons in the Delhi High Court. But, the High Court refused to give him protection. The ED arrested him the same day.

10 May 2024: The Supreme Court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal till 1 June to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.

June 1, 2024: Kejriwal files plea in Delhi High Court for interim bail citing health reasons.

June 2, 2024: Kejriwal surrenders in Tihar Jail as per the Supreme Court order.

June 5, 2024: The High Court refuses to grant interim bail to Kejriwal.

20 June 2024: High Court grants general bail to Kejriwal in money laundering case.

June 21, 2024: ED appeals against his bail in Delhi High Court. This closes the way for Kejriwal’s release.

26 June 2024: Arvind Kejriwal is arrested by the CBI.

September 5, 2024: Supreme Court reserves verdict on bail pleas of Kejriwal, petitions challenging his arrest.

13 September 2024: Supreme Court gives its verdict and Arvind Kejriwal gets bail.
