Assam BJP is moving towards 100 percent target of making 60 lakh new members.

Guwahati, October 11 (IANS). Assam BJP is moving towards achieving 100 percent target of making 60 lakh new members under its current membership drive. According to the latest figures, BJP membership in Assam has crossed the figure of 58 lakh.

A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said that the state unit had asked each assembly constituency to set a target of having 40,000 members. Out of total 126 assembly constituencies, 91 have already achieved this target.

“We are getting excellent response across Assam. Even in this festive season, people are joining our party. It is really unprecedented. Even central leaders are very happy with our performance,” he said.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciated the efforts of the party workers.

In a post on social media platform Congratulations for their hard work in gaining members, Assam BJP is close to 100 percent of its target with 58.31 lakh new members.

BJP leaders in the state are focusing on youth in the age group of 18 to 25 years in the membership drive.

CM Sarma had earlier said, “Our party does not contest college or university elections. However, there is no bar in making them members of our party. I appeal to the block level workers to work on including the youth in the BJP. Emphasize that they can carry forward our mission for this country in the future.”

Meanwhile, BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh said Assam is at the forefront in the party’s membership drive in the country by completing 85 per cent of the target.
