Assembly has been converted into a cantonment, peaceful protest is our aim: Aradhana Mishra

Lucknow, December 18 (IANS). Assembly siege has been announced by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. Many Congress leaders from across the state have started reaching Lucknow, while security forces have also been deployed at the state office in the capital. On the other hand, Congress leaders say that their aim is to protest peacefully.

Speaking to IANS regarding the protests, Congress leader Aradhana Mishra Mona said that the assembly has been converted into a cantonment. Police from many districts are deployed here. Spears and barbed wire have been installed in the barricades.

Aradhana Mishra alleges that efforts are being made to stop her forcefully. She said, will the government stop the peaceful demonstration of Congress? Congress has never incited violence in its history. We are protesting peacefully and trying to raise the issues of the state. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee will corner the Yogi government on all issues including unemployment, inflation, Hindu-Muslim politics, electricity, health system, education, security etc.

Congress plans to gherao the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday. Workers from many districts are reaching Lucknow to take part in this protest. Heavy police force has been deployed outside the party office in Lucknow to stop Congress workers. At the same time, Congress leaders are being placed under house arrest in other districts of the state also. This demonstration is being organized by the Congress Party against the policies and issues of the state government.

A large number of police forces have been deployed in Lucknow and additional security arrangements have been made at sensitive places. Security personnel are on alert in the assembly and its surrounding areas, so that any untoward incident can be dealt with. Apart from this, the police have also made special arrangements to keep an eye on the activities of the protesters.
