India told the United Nations Security Council that it had discussed various issues related to bilateral relations with the Taliban rule and has “special” relations with people to people’s “Aadhaar” of the country’s current association of India.
India’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvatnani Harish said at the United Nations Security Meeting on the United Nations Assistance Mission (UNAMA) in Afghanistan on Monday that Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypt had met Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Mawalvi Aamir Khan Muttaki in Dubai earlier this year.
Harish said in the council, “Both sides discussed various issues related to bilateral relations as well as regional development. The Afghan side appreciated and thanked the Indian leadership for joining and supporting the people of Afghanistan. ”
He said, “It was decided that India would consider joining development projects in the near future besides the humanitarian aid programs released in Afghanistan.”
The meeting between Egyptian and Mottaki in January was the highest level of contact between India and Taliban since the Taliban occupation of Afghanistan in 2021.
Harish emphasized that the relationship between India and Afghanistan has been centuries old and has a special relationship between the people of India and Afghanistan as its neighboring country which has been “the basis of our current association with the country”.
Harish said that India is closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and has been actively involved in regional and international efforts to maintain stability and peace in the country.
The Indian envoy said, “Our comprehensive view is to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan and to build an international consensus under the United Nations framework to resolve various issues between real authorities and international communities in Afghanistan.”
He said India’s participation in the United Nations meetings in Doha, Moscow Format and other forums “is” a reflection of our efforts to secure peace, stability and development in Afghanistan “.
India told the United Nations institution that it is working with various UN agencies to provide assistance to the people of Afghanistan in the areas of health, food security, education, sports and efficiency development. India has been committed to reconstruction of Afghanistan since 2001.
He said, “Our development partnership includes more than 500 projects spread in all the provinces of Afghanistan.”
Since August 2021, India has given 27 tonnes of relief material, 50 thousand tonnes of wheat, 40 thousand liters of pesticides and more than 300 tonnes of medicines and medical equipment.
Rosa Otunbayeva, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary -General for Afghanistan, told the council that it is the responsibility of the real authorities to tell whether they want Afghanistan to be re -included in the international system and if so, are they ready to take necessary steps?
After the meeting between Egyptian and Mottaki in January, a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs said that the two sides evaluated the Indian humanitarian aid programs.
The Afghan minister appreciated and thanked the Indian leadership for joining and supporting the people of Afghanistan.
