Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi’s swearing-in ceremony as Delhi Chief Minister will be held at Raj Niwas on Saturday at 4:30 pm today and her council of ministers will also take oath, officials gave this information.
Officials of the Lieutenant Governor’s office said that President Draupadi Murmu has appointed Atishi as the Chief Minister of Delhi from the date of swearing-in and has also accepted the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal.
He said the President has also approved the appointment of five ministers and the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 4:30 pm at Raj Niwas. According to an AAP leader, the ceremony is likely to be held in a simple manner.
AAP MLAs met earlier this week and unanimously elected Atishi as the leader of the ruling legislative party. The new council of ministers announced by the AAP will include Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Imran Hussain and Mukesh Ahlawat, a first-time MLA from Sultanpur Majra. Rai, Gehlot, Bhardwaj and Hussain are ministers in the outgoing Kejriwal government.
The tenure of the Atishi government will be brief as Delhi is due to hold assembly elections in February next year.
