The Delhi government is ready to sign an MoU with the National Health Authority on March 18 to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Official sources gave this information on Thursday.
Along with this, the 35th state/union territory will become the implementation of Delhi Health Insurance Scheme. West Bengal will be the only state that has not adopted this scheme.
Sources said, “On March 18, Union Health Minister J.K. In the presence of P. Nadda, a memorandum will be signed and five families will be given AB-PMJAY cards, making them beneficiaries of this scheme. ‘
The implementation of the scheme was one of the major promises of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Delhi Assembly elections.
The previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government had launched its own plan and refused to implement AB-PMJAY.
The BJP won the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5 and returned to power in Delhi after more than 26 years.
AB-PMJAY provides a health insurance cover of five lakh rupees per family, per family, every year in the event of secondary and tertiary care hospitals, with 12.37 crore families included in the economically weaker 40 per cent of the population of India.
The Central Government had expanded AB-PMJAY on October 29, 2024 to provide free treatment benefits to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above from their socio-economic status.
