Mumbai, October 13 (IANS). The mortal remains of senior Nationalist Congress Party leader and businessman Baba Ziauddin Siddiqui was brought to Cooper Hospital on Sunday. Baba Siddiqui’s family members were present with his body. The post-mortem of the dead body will be done shortly.
Keeping in mind the security arrangements, a large number of police forces have been deployed outside Cooper Hospital. Police forces are deployed around the hospital to prevent any untoward incident.
Let us tell you that on Saturday, Baba Siddiqui was shot dead near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra East. According to the information, at least two-three people ambushed him outside his office. As soon as he reached the office, the attackers came running and fired several rounds of bullets indiscriminately at Siddiqui. He was hit by two-three bullets, one of which hit the chest. This incident happened around 9.30 pm.
After this incident, Baba Siddiqui’s colleagues and others took him to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra West, but by then he had died. As soon as the information was received, leaders of NCP, Congress and Mahayuti and a large number of their supporters reached the hospital.
Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders have criticized the Mahayuti regime for the sensational murder of Siddiqui and demanded the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
State Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed the police to take strict action against the killers. Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, CM Shinde said that two accused were arrested by the police. One is from Uttar Pradesh and one from Haryana. The third accused is absconding. “I have directed the police to take strict action,” he said.
NCP National President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the incident of firing on NCP leader, former minister and my colleague Baba Siddiqui who has been in the legislature for a long time is very unfortunate, condemnable and painful. I am shocked. I strongly condemn this cowardly attack. He said that the incident will be thoroughly investigated and strict action will be taken against the attackers. The mastermind behind the attack will also be caught.
