New Delhi, October 13 (IANS). Many leaders have expressed grief over the murder of senior Nationalist Congress Party leader and businessman Baba Ziauddin Siddiqui. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain also described the incident as tragic and claimed that those involved in the murder would not be spared.
BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain released a video message saying that Baba Siddiqui has been shot dead in Mumbai, it is very sad. He was a good leader, working in NCP. He was from Bihar and came to Mumbai from there and stood on his feet and became a big leader and minister. Two of the three murderers involved in his murder have been caught by Mumbai Police. We deeply regret this incident, those involved in the incident will not be spared, all will be caught.
Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has given instructions to take strict action against the killers. Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, he said that two accused were arrested by the police. One is from Uttar Pradesh and one from Haryana. The third accused is absconding. I have instructed the police to take strict action.
State Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the incident of firing on NCP leader, former minister and my colleague Baba Siddiqui, who has been in the legislature for a long time, is very unfortunate, condemnable and painful, I am shocked. I strongly condemn this cowardly attack. The incident will be thoroughly investigated and strict action will be taken against the attackers. The mastermind behind the attack will also be caught. With the demise of Baba Siddiqui, we have lost a good leader, who fought for the minority brothers and strived for interfaith harmony. His demise is a big loss for the NCP.”
Maharashtra BJP Vice President Kirit Somaiya talked about forming a special team and getting the investigation done. Said, the murder of Baba Siddiqui is a matter of concern. The government should form a special team and investigate it. He said that a deep conspiracy is visible. Whatever happens, strict action should be taken against him.
Baba Siddiqui was ambushed outside his office on Saturday night. As soon as he reached the office, the attackers came running and fired several rounds indiscriminately. He was hit by two-three bullets, one of which hit the chest. The incident occurred around 9.30 pm.
