Nagpur, September 24 (IANS). Akshay Shinde, accused in the sexual harassment case in Badlapur, died in an encounter on Monday. After this, the politics of Maharashtra heated up. The opposition is constantly attacking the Mahayuti government of Maharashtra. Meanwhile, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar has reacted to the statement of Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole.
Fisheries Minister in Maharashtra Government Sudhir Mungantiwar reached Nagpur on Tuesday and spoke to journalists. On the question of the encounter of the main accused of the Badlapur case, he said that he was an accused. He attacked the policemen, but now the opposition is showing sympathy towards him. Such things are surprising without knowing what happened there.
It is wrong to doubt the work of the police. It is surprising that the opposition which was earlier demanding that the accused be hanged is raising questions today. The police does not belong to any party, so questions cannot be raised.
On Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole’s statement on the RSS, the BJP leader said, “Nana is repeatedly making such allegations on the RSS to gain popularity. He is in a hurry to become the Chief Minister, so he is making statements to remain in the news.”
Let us tell you that on the Badlapur case, Nana Patole had said, “It has been reported that Akshay Shinde, accused in the sexual harassment case in Badlapur, has died in a police encounter. It has been learned that Shinde snatched the gun from the police and fired at himself and the police. That is why he died from police bullets.”
According to the report, Akshay Shinde was a sweeper in a school in Badlapur. Shinde was accused of raping minor girls of the school. He was in jail. On Monday evening, when the police were taking him from the jail to the police station for transit remand, the accused pulled out the service revolver of policeman Nilesh More near Mumbra bypass.
The accused fired three bullets at the policemen. One bullet hit the policeman’s leg, while two misfired. He was injured in police retaliation and later died.
