On the other hand, Atishi sought time from the Lieutenant Governor to take oath and staked claim to form the government.

The Lieutenant Governor has not yet announced the date for Atishi’s swearing-in, but it remains to be seen when Atishi will take oath as the Chief Minister. However, even before Atishi’s swearing-in, there is a split in the Aam Aadmi Party. The party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has opened a front against Atishi.

Maliwal said that Delhi has got a puppet Chief Minister. He is from the same family that had written mercy petitions to the President and the Supreme Court to save terrorist Afzal Guru. Countering Maliwal, AAP leader Dilip Pandey said that Maliwal is speaking the language of the BJP, if she has any shame then she should first resign from the Rajya Sabha membership. She should stop reading the script of the BJP.

Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation
Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation from the post of Delhi CM while addressing workers at the party office on September 15. Kejriwal had said that he would go among the public with Manish Sisodia and ask for a certificate of honesty from him. Assembly elections are to be held in Delhi in February 2025.
