The court stayed the order of the Allahabad High Court. Also, in this case, the court has asked the state government and both the parties to submit written arguments for detailed hearing.
The Supreme Court said that they need time to study the decision of the High Court. On this, they stayed the order of the HC. Let us tell you that the High Court in its decision canceled the merit list of June 2020 and January 2022 and ordered the UP government to prepare a new merit list for 69 thousand teachers on the basis of 2019 (ATRE) Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination within three months.
The High Court had also said that if a candidate from the reserved category gets equal merit as the general category, then his selection should be considered in the general category. Due to this order of the HC, a large number of teachers in UP were in danger of losing their jobs.
