Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Preparations for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are in full swing and there is a stir in political corridors. This time the match will not only be of thorns between the NDA and the Grand Alliance, but within the Grand Alliance, the tug of war has intensified about the vote bank of Dalit and Backward Classes.
Both RJD and Congress parties involved in the Grand Alliance are engaged in helping this class. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has visited Bihar five times in the last five months. Their purpose is to regain the traditional Dalit and Backward vote bank of the Congress. On the other hand, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is also targeting this class to increase his support base.
Crisis for Congress
The challenge before the Congress is big. While his vote share was around 25 percent in the 1990s, now it has come down to 9.5 percent. The decision will be the decision to make the results of how much Rahul Gandhi’s activism and organizational change will give strength to the party. On the other hand, Tejashwi Yadav’s youth image and RJD’s strong ground organization makes him a major face. But due to internal tussle, the Grand Alliance is also having a threat to the scatter of votes.
NDA will get full benefit!
In the midst of this political turmoil, the NDA is trying to take full advantage of this situation. BJP and JDU are enticing voters by putting the agenda of development, nationalism and religion under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) joining the NDA has strengthened his hold on the Paswan community. Nitish Kumar’s ‘Mahadalit’ policy has also left an impact in the Dalit community. The BJP has started survey on all seats and the strategy regarding seat sharing is in the final stages. At the same time, there is also confusion about leadership within the Grand Alliance. Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the largest constituent party RJD, is considered a natural chief ministerial contender, but the final decision in the central leadership system of the Congress will be from the party high command.
Reminds history
Some senior Congress leaders have expressed a lack of trust on RJD. He says that a respectable stake in seat sharing is necessary. A former minister reminded that the Congress and RJD alliance in 2010 was broken because the RJD was not ready to give sufficient seats to the Congress and what happened is recorded in history. Now it has to be seen whether the Grand Alliance is able to unite by forgetting mutual differences or this mutual tussle will give the NDA a chance to benefit.
