Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday gave an evasive reply to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad’s proposal to return to the opposition alliance ‘India’. “What are you saying?” he told reporters.
When Kumar, who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Arif Mohammad Khan as the new Governor at Raj Bhavan, was asked about Lalu Prasad’s new proposal, he folded his hands and smiled and simply said, ‘What are you saying?’
When Kumar, standing with Khan and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, was asked whether the state government would be able to complete its term, the newly appointed governor intervened and said, “This is not the right time to ask such questions. Today is a happy day. We should only talk about good things.”
During the last decade, Kumar has twice formed an alliance with RJD, a constituent of the opposition alliance ‘India’.
Whereas former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, while clarifying the comments of his father Lalu Yadav, claimed that the RJD supremo had only tried to satisfy the curiosity of the media.
Lalu Prasad had told a TV channel, “Our doors are open (for Nitish). They should also open their doors. This will make the movement of people on both sides easier.”
“I have already made my stand clear,” said Yadav, who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Arif Mohammad Khan as the new governor at the Raj Bhavan.
Yadav had said on Wednesday that the ‘farewell’ of the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the new year is certain.
When Tejashwi Yadav was asked about his father’s comments, he said, “What will he (Lalu Yadav) do if you keep coming with the same question? Whatever he might have said, its purpose might have been to satisfy the curiosity of you journalists.”
