Giriraj Singh was born on 8 September 1952 in Barhiya in Lakhisarai district of Bihar. Begusarai was the land where he began his education and politics. Currently, Giriraj Singh is also an MP from here.

Due to this, when Giriraj Singh grew up a little, his father sent him to live with his aunt, who lived in Sadanandpur in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. He obtained his intermediate and graduation degree from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, Bihar.
It is said that after graduation, Giriraj Singh took the agency of a pumpset company and started working in Begusarai. While working here, Giriraj Singh met Kailashpati Mishra, a powerful leader of his time, who changed his life. This meeting brought Giriraj Singh to Delhi.
According to political experts, “Giriraj Singh met Kailashpati Mishra at a wedding ceremony. Kailashpati Mishra had a great influence on him and he decided to join politics. Giriraj Singh joined the BJP. After some time, he moved to Patna, the capital of Bihar and joined the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).”
Giriraj Singh worked as the organisation in-charge of Begusarai, Samastipur and Khagaria. After this, in the year 1990, he took over the responsibility of the General Secretary in the state BJYM team.
Giriraj Singh was elected to many posts in his political journey. He was elected to the Bihar Legislative Council in the year 2002. He continued to work as a Legislative Council member till 2014. During this time, he was also a part of the cabinet of the then Bihar government. After this, Giriraj Singh moved towards the Lok Sabha.
He won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Nawada seat in Bihar. After this, Giriraj Singh continued his winning streak in the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Today Giriraj Singh is included in the Modi government as a Union Minister.
Political experts say that even though Giriraj Singh has gone so far today, Begusarai has always been his karmabhoomi and the birthplace of his politics. Giriraj Singh is often seen meeting people in his parliamentary constituency and solving their problems. Giriraj Singh calls himself a farmer and this is reflected in his lifestyle.
